M1 Junction 19 Improvement

Description

The total remodelling of the M1 Junction 19/M6 interchange required extensive new signage and direction information equipment. Nusteel Structures were awarded the contract to manufacture and install the 12 No new Non-Access Superspan portal gantries to support this equipment.

The gantry spans ranged from 43 metres to 62 metres in length.

The Fabrication operations were carried out in our 3 steel fabrication shops with the Finishing activities undertaken in our in-house Blast and fully heated Paint shops.

After the finishing processes were completed and the cable tray installed, the gantry structures were stored in the fit-out yard where the specialist electrical contractor carried out the cabling and communication installation operations. The structures were then ready for dispatch to site as fully completed elements.

Our in-house transport department organised the various permits and route management for delivery to each gantry location in conjunction with precise planning with the delivery partner’s site team.
