A38 Carkeel Footbridge

Description

This Nusteel designed pedestrian bridge consists of a 49 metre Warren Truss main span together with 57 metres of Twin Tringer ramp and a return flight stair.

The bridge was commissioned to enable people to walk between Saltash and the nearby Tamar employment, retail and leisure areas. Prior to this, pedestrians had to cross the very busy A38. As part of the Carkeel roundabout improvement scheme, there is now safe access to these locations without having an adverse effect on the A38 road users.
