A45 Rushden Lakes Footbridge

Description

Part of the Rushden Lakes roundabout and retail centre improvement scheme, Nusteel were contracted to design, manufacture, deliver and install this ‘gateway’ Cable Stay bridge in Northamptonshire. The 52 Metre main deck is supported over the dual carriageway by high tensile stainless steel stay bars connected to the 28 metre high ‘A frame’ tower. To add to the aesthetic value of the bridge, the main deck parapet is curved in section.

The main deck is accessed via 192 metres of curved and straight Twin Stringer ramps together with 2 complex return flight stairs at either end.

Given the complexity of the structure, the number of bridge components and location between and over 2 busy roads, meticulous planning by our in-house Appointed Persons was required to ensure a successful delivery and installation. These works were carried out by our skilled operatives during a number of planned road closures and with close liaison with the main contractor and other authorities.
